SALIENT FEATURES:
• This scheme is effective from 01.04.2025 to all Central Government Employees. State
Governments also can implement UPS if desires to do so.
• The object of Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) is to improve the National Pension System
(NPS) for Central Government employees
• The employee is eligible for guaranteed pension of 50% of the average basic pay of last
12 months prior to retirement, for completed 25 years of qualifying service.
On death of the employee Spouse is eligible for family pension @60% of last pension
drawn by the employee.
DEARNESS RELIEF:
• Pensioners are eligible for Dearness Relief on the above basic pension as per the
prevailing rates. Dearness Relief based on All India Consumer Price Index for
Industrial Workers (AICPI-IW) as in case of service employees
MINIMUM PENSION & SERVICE:
• Minimum assured pension of Rs.10000 p.m
• Minimum service required for pension is 10 years and , pro rata assured pension will
be given for the increased number of years of service up to maximum of 50% of the
last pay.
• In NPS pension based on the returns from contribution invested in debt and equity
but not a guaranteed amount.
